Bulldog Tools have been made at Clarington Forge, Wigan for 230 years. The factory has the only full time working forge still making spades and forks within the UK, producing over 2000 garden and contractors tools every day. Farmers, contractors and professional landscapers stand as a testament to the quality of product upon which their livelihood depends. The skill and craftsmanship that was the key to the company’s success in years gone by, are still maintained and the same forging process is used to this day. I have used bulldog tools for many years and found Bulldog tools to be exceptionally well made and long lasting, Bulldog gardening tools are ideal for the keen gardener and professional landscaper. Bulldog Tools celebrated 230 years of British tool manufacturing by creating a spade which stands at 3.610m (11'8'') tall, the blade width is 59.8cm (23.5"), weighs over 180KG (28st 4.8lb) and required 160 hours to build- setting the new world record for the Largest Spade. The new world record beats the previous Guinness world record for the Largest Spade by half a meter in height. The world's largest spade took over 160 man hours to make, the blade and socket are made of solid steel and the spade stands at 3.610m (11'8'') tall. The blade width is 59.8cm (23.5") - the spade weighs over 180KG (28st 4.8lb). Bulldog Tools uses a unique specification steel which results in exceptionally strong tool heads with the flexibility to absorb all the shock and pressure of hard work, without distorting or breaking. The timber for the handles is all purchased from sustainable sources. To see more Bulldog tools, click here.
